MYKONOS

MYKONOS

This little Greek hotspot seems to be on everyone’s list of places to go this summer. Guilty, it’s on ours too. Our first trip to Mykonos was way back in 2010 and it’s safe to say that this Island is still as beautiful, vibrant and crazy as ever, although now with a lot more options. The Island truly caters to everyone with its 2 personalities: chilled and wild – 2 distinctly opposite vibes that only the Greek can simultaneously pull off. Having fun and letting go is all that this Island is about and with an abundance of places to party, you will find below our favourite spots.

We hope you enjoy it,

K, R & D x

WHERE TO GO:

Maurizio Mykonos

Mattheou Andronikou, Mikonos 846 00, Greece

For those of you who do not know, Maurizio Mykonos is a Greek label which launched in Athens over 20 years ago. The clothes are timeless, elegant and chic with incredible silhouettes and you can find most pieces in their boutique in Mykonos. Definitely give this store a visit as you’re likely to find pieces you’ll be able to wear again and again throughout the year.

Luisa - Nammos Beach

Psarou Beach, Psarou 846 00, Greece

Forgotten your Missoni cover up back home? Luisa’s got you covered. This little boutique, conveniently located at Nammos, is full of summery outfits perfect to wear there and then if you so wish. Warning: coming here after a long day of drinking could be dangerous for your wallet (and wardrobe).

Linea Piu

Μykonos: 24, N. Kalogera St, Chora

This gem of a store stocks the most incredible one off designer pieces that we doubt you’ll find elsewhere. Linea Piu is definitely worth a visit and is by far the best curated store on the Island.

Carvana - Scorpios

Paraga, Mikonos 846 00, Greece

Carvana is filled with clothes that perfectly match the vibe of Scorpios – rustic, chilled and fun. Created by the brilliant designer duo Francesca Bonato and Jacopo Janniello Ravagnan, founder of Hacienda Montaecristo, Caravana is their attempt to reinterpret and revitalize local Mexican craftsmanship. This is definitely worth checking out if you're heading to Scorpios.

WHERE TO STAY:

Cavo Tagoo

Mykonos chora, Mikonos 846 00, Greece

The simple and sophisticated Cavo Tagoo is definitely our Island favourite. Located just a walk away from all the action on the Island, this boutique hotel is the perfectly idyllic spot to kick back and relax after a long day of partying (and, of course, to prep for your night ahead). With exceptional service, an incredible infinity pool and a great selection of rooms, it’s not necessary to think twice before booking your stay here.

Santa Marina

Ornos Bay, Mikonos 846 00, Greece

On an island with only around 20 cabs, location is everything. However, although the Santa Marina hotel is a little further out, you never really have to leave. What really differentiates this hotel from the others is their private beach – the many cushion covered loungers paired with the DJ makes for the perfect sundowners, the added bonus being that you’re just a walk away from your room. Buddha Bar is also at the Santa Marina and is one of the best restaurants on the Island. The spa facilities in this hotel are also exceptional, with a sea view in most of your treatments. We told you, you’ll never have to leave this place (and you won’t want to either).

WHERE TO EAT:

Sea Satin

Little Venice, Mikonos, Greece | +30 2289 024676

With a stunning setting right on the seafront, dinner at Sea Satin is always on the itinerary in Mykonos. The décor is simple but the vibe is far from. This place turns into a full on party post dinner complete with napkin waving, table dancing, plate smashing and one too many shots of ouzo. The menu mainly consists of fish of all shapes and sizes so watch out; if you’re keen on seafood this may not be the right place for you.

Interni

Matoyiannia, Mikonos 846 00, Greece | +30 2289 026333

Designed by Paola Navone (the same designer as the Joyce store in Hong Kong), Interni is an ideal place for dinner and drinks. Set in a beautiful garden underneath the Mykonian sky, this is definitely a restaurant to see. With a Mediterranean menu with plenty of options, this restaurant makes for easy dining with a large group of friends.

Buddha Bar Beach

Ornos Bay, Mikonos 846 00, Greece | +30 2289 023220

Set on the only private beach in Mykonos at the Santa Marina, Buddha Bar Beach is a unique dining experience overlooking the Aegean Sea. The sushi isn’t the best we’ve had but the atmosphere is great. After all, sushi, sea breeze and cocktails make for the perfect night.

Ling Ling

Mikonos 846 00, Mikonos 846 00, Greece | +30 2289 022515

Ling Ling is true izakaya style dining in a totally European open-air setting. Cooler and younger than its sibling restaurant, Hakkasan, Ling Ling is delicious Cantonese food served with a modern twist. Described as Hakkasan’s ‘naughty little sister’, Ling Ling turns into a party which goes on until the early hours of the morning. What better way to get your Chinese fix?

Uno Con Carne

Πανάχρα Μύκονος, Panachra Mykonos, Mikonos 846 00, Greece | +30 2289 024020

Breaking the seafood stereotype on the island is Uno Con Carne – the Argentinian style steakhouse grill and oyster bar. With an inhouse DJ and a typically Mykonian setting, this is an altogether unique dining experience.

Principote Panormos

Panormos Beach,, Mikonos, Greece | +30 2289 077184

This is another beachy day scene with great food and great vibes. It’s definitely somewhere to go if you’ve not been already with great service and chic guests. You can easily spend an entire day here people watching your day away and with a vibe that’s just slightly more tasteful than the other beach clubs in Mykonos.

Kiki’s

Mikonos 846 00, Greece | +30 694 075 9356 | lunch only

This tiny tavern is a real treat for those who know about it. Small in size but big in flavour, this restaurant is perched just above sea level and is hidden by the surrounding streets. The meat and fish is grilled right in front of you and is the perfectly healthy and delicious spot ahead of tanning your day away. Reservations are hard to come by so we recommend you plan at least 1-2 weeks ahead during peak season!

Solymar

Kalo Livadi, Mýkonos 846 00, Greece | +30 2289 071745

If you can’t be bothered with the more ‘sceney’ scene in Mykonos town, Solymar is definitely the place for you. Literally translated from Spanish ‘sun and sea’, Solymar is as relaxed as you wish to make it with airy interiors and the perfect beach setting. The menu is perfectly balanced with options catering to those who wish to eat a lighter meal as well as those who seek to indulge. This is the perfect place to spend your entire afternoon.

WHERE TO PLAY:

Scorpios

Paraga, 84600 Mykonos, Kikladhes, Greece | +30 22890 29250

The hotspot beach club that seems to be appearing on everyone’s Instagram these days. Self-described as a modern-day agora, Scorpios is ‘both rustic and stylish with good vibes from dawn to dusk’. True to this, you can get there early to enjoy a spot of yoga, before passing your afternoon on a hammock by the sea, to partying until the early hours with their resident DJs. The food here is also great with the ethos that "we are what we eat" and a culinary team that focuses on highly selective, healthy cuisine, presenting simple yet refined dishes that are infused with a Greek provenance. It’s less flashy than Nammos and more refined than Alemagou – a perfect balance and definitely something to experience.

Nammos

Psarou Beach, Psarou 846 00, Greece | +30 2289 022440

Still as good as the first time we came here, Nammos is always on the list when in town and is the place we look forward to the most. This is one of the best beach spots on the island and it’s no wonder why Nammos plays host to pretty much everyone in town. With great music, an abundance of alcohol and the perfect Missoni décor, you’ll probably want to come back again tomorrow. Our top tip: book in advance, go in a big group and request a table inside.

Moni

Agia Moni Square Town, Mikonos 846 00, Greece | +30 693 283 0252

Breaking away from the typically Greek outdoor night scene, Moni is more of a cosmopolitan hotspot. This indoor club you could easily find in London or New York but it’s the mix of music that sets it apart. Having been around for over 25 years, Moni knows how to do it and they do it well, and any international friends will feel right at home.

Alemagou

Alemagou-Ftelia Mykonos | +30 2289 071339

Similar to Scorpios, Alemagou offers a holistic day vibe with rugged textures and a laid back attitude. The open-air, Bohemian setting is most welcome after the hassle of getting there (we highly recommend you organise transportation in advance of your departure) and Alemagou hosts some crazy parties over the summer so be sure to check in advance what’s going on whilst you’re there to book accordingly.

Cavo Paradiso

Island, Paradise Beach, Mikonos 846 00, Greece | +30 2289 027205

Set on the side of a hill with the backdrop of the sea, this is the most authentic European nightlife experience. Open from 12am-10am, this isn’t for the faint hearted. The music here is a mix of house and deep house and Cavo Paradiso hosts different DJs of both genres throughout the summer.

Tropicana

Paradise Beach, Mikonos 846 00, Greece | +30 2289 023582

Tropicana is an experience which everyone should do at least once in their life. If you know, you know. This is the perfect place to let go and do you. This takes beach partying to the next level and is a totally different vibe from all places described above. It’s trashy and we love it. Go with an open mind and you’ll love it too.
